Judy Whitmore – This Is Home

Today, acclaimed vocalist, licensed jet pilot, best-selling author, licensed psychotherapist, and theater producer Judy Whitmore has released her new EP, This Is Home.

The 6-song collection – produced and arranged by Whitmore’s longtime collaborator, seven-time GRAMMY®-nominated composer Chris Walden (Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand, Stevie Wonder) – celebrates America’s 250th birthday with beautiful new versions of timeless American classics including “America the Beautiful” and “God Bless America” as well as a George M. Cohan medley of “Over There” and “You’re a Grand Old Flag.” This Is Home opens with a cover of the Frank Sinatra classic “The House I Live In.”

“When I was seventeen years old, my parents took me to London for my first trip abroad,” shares Whitmore. “I was enthralled by all things British and remember feeling sad when it was time to leave. Unbeknownst to us, on our flight home to New York there was a 120-member college choir on board. As we made our descent into JFK, with no warning, they all began to sing. I was flying through the sky, the Statue of Liberty visible through my window, while 120 angelic voices sang ‘America the Beautiful’ in perfect harmony. I was so overwhelmed with love for my country that I began to cry. I can only hope that some of the people who listen to these songs will have the same patriotic feeling I had that day.”

Of “The House I Live In,” Whitmore adds, “This song, with its inspiring lyrics, was written with the goal of eliminating racial and religious intolerance at the end of World War II. We need this more than ever today.”

This Is Home was recorded at Evergreen Studios in Los Angeles with a full 39-piece ensemble orchestra including many of the elite players from the Pacific Jazz Orchestra, of which Walden serves as music director and Whitmore a member of the Board of Directors.

Whitmore introduced This Is Home ahead of Memorial Day with “America Medley,” her tribute to the U.S. armed forces featuring the official marches of the Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine Corps. Military service is near and dear to Judy’s heart as multiple family members across generations, including both of her parents and her grandfather, have served.
