Charlotte Cardin – Take Me Back

Today, French-Canadian musician Charlotte Cardin releases new single “Take Me Back” via Cult Nation / The Orchard.
After winning the Female Artist of the Year at the Victoires de Musique earlier this year, following her being named as Billboard’s Global Woman of the Year in 2025, Cardin continues to build international momentum with this effortless new single, accompanied by a cinematic music video directed by Academy Award nominee Vincent René-Lortie.
A sultry, brooding alt-pop song with jazz-inflected melodies that build to a cathartic finale, “Take Me Back” explores the consequences of hesitation: what happens when you seek clarity in a relationship by creating distance from a partner – but end up with roles reversed.
“Take Me Back is about the selfish heartbreak of asking for space, then realizing he may have used that space to heal from you.” – Charlotte Cardin
The stunning music video for “Take Me Back” was directed by Quebecois filmmaker Vincent René-Lortie: a 2024 Academy Award nominee for Best Live Action Short Film. Shot on film and inspired by the language of continental cinema, undone elegance and the grain of film as memory, the video was filmed on a remote island off the coast of Sicily. At its core, it’s about remembering what we once knew; about how easy it is to forget ourselves when we learn to perform instead of feel, to protect instead of surrender.
The release of “Take Me Back” follows recent singles “The Way We Touch” and the fiery “Tant pis pour elle,” now certified Gold in France, paving the way for a striking new artistic chapter of her career: one that is both powerful and sensual, yet vulnerable. A milestone year in Charlotte’s career, in April she performed at the Accor Arena in Paris, a legendary venue with over 15,000 seats, that sold out one year in advance.
