Winter – hollow (mixtape version)

Today, Winter, the project of dreampop/shoegaze artist Samira Winter, returns with the new single “hollow (mixtape version)” a full band, high-energy original take on the track from her beloved 2025 LP Adult Romantix.

Her album from last year received widespread acclaim, including praise from The FADER, which named Winter one of the 30 coolest artists right now, saying, “Her dream-pop is inspired by ’90s rom-coms and French New Wave, and full of wistful vocals and guitar distortion.”

Of the new track, Winter says: “It was really fun getting to reimagine this song in the studio and explore new edges of Romantix. I originally wrote it in a faster tempo so it was cool bringing this version to life, leaning into the more sulky crimson palette of the album.”

About the song’s music video, she writes: “I was reading this old Russian fairytale at the time of writing the lyrics, which we took as inspiration when making the music video. I think one way or another, with Winter, I’m always exploring that liminal space between dream and waking life. And it was really special getting to work with director Sophie Hur again and dream up this epilogue for the album.”

More alternate Winter material is expected in the coming months with some surprise special guests.
