Alongside the announcement, she shares its second single, “Sweet n Sour.”

Inspired by the ritual of fishing – the wait, the pull, the release – Catch N’ Release embraces curiosity, instinct, and the thrill of discovery. Reimagining a practice as old as time, the project celebrates chasing what sparks something within you, trusting your gut, keeping what’s meant for you, and tossing back what isn’t. Each release becomes another cast into open water, inviting listeners into a world where surprise is just as meaningful as intention.

The EP marks Fana’s first solo project since 2024’s Moth, the final installment in a trilogy of deeply introspective releases tracing growth, healing, intimacy, and self-discovery. With Catch N’ Release, she steps into entirely new territory, trading introspection for exploration and certainty for instinct. The result is her most expansive and playful body of work to date, one that continues to push the emotional depth and sonic richness that have become her signature while opening the door to an entirely new world.

Over the last several years, Fana Hues has quietly established herself as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary R&B. Since releasing her debut album Hues in 2020, she has collaborated with artists including Doechii on “Sunday’s Best” as well as Tyler, The Creator and Brent Faiyaz on “SWEET / I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE,” while earning a reputation for immersive live performances through tours with Raveena, Snoh Aalegra, and Giveon, along with a sold-out European headline run.

Across her work, Fana balances technical precision with emotional openness, creating songs that feel intimate without losing scale. That balance has earned admiration from peers including Janelle Monáe, Sabrina Claudio, and Lucky Daye, and continues to define the ever-evolving world she builds on Catch N’ Release.
