Sera Cahoone – Say Something

Sera Cahoone by Kyle Johnson2

Today, Sub Pop is pleased to welcome (back) Sera Cahoone, the talented singer-songwriter, musician, and producer, to the label’s roster, with plans to release her new music in 2026 and beyond. To celebrate her return, Cahoone is sharing the official video for her new song, the twangy lover’s lament “Say Something,” which is out today on all streaming services.

“Say Something” was co-produced by Cahoone and John Morgan Askews at Bear Creek Studios in Woodinville, WA, mixed by Askews at Scenic Burrows in Vancouver, WA, and mastered by JJ Golden at Golden Mastering.

Sera Cahoone also breaks a leg (literally!) and stars in the accompanying official video for the song, in which she portrays a worker at a local skating rink, singing about a past love as the patrons pass her by. The sweet new visual is directed by Bella Petro.

Cahoone says of the video, “Filming this video was an absolute blast, walking boot and all! If I had it my way, I would have had the skaters in the video the entire time. They were incredibly entertaining to watch. Bella and Brennan did a fantastic job.”

Sera Cahoone has been a fixture on the Seattle music scene since relocating to the Pacific Northwest in 1998. She played drums with slowcore legends Carissa’s Wierd until they split in 2003. Cahoone joined her CW alums in Band of Horses, playing on their certified Gold 2006 album Everything All the Time.

That same year, Sera Cahoone released a self-titled debut that established her as a singular songwriter and gifted guitarist. Cahoone signed with Sub Pop soon after, releasing 2008’s Only as the Day Is Long and 2012’s Deer Creek Canyon. She followed the Sub Pop run by self-releasing 2017’s rollicking and raucous From Where I Started.

In the 8 years following that album, Sera Cahoone experienced profound loss. She channeled the heartbreak into writing songs, playing shows, and developing her skills as a producer and drummer, producing three records for friends like Dean Johnson and Margo Cilker.

Now in 2026, Sera Cahoone reemerges with “Say Something,” a cathartic new song with a sense of lightness throughout – from the carefree piano to the electric guitar that revs it to life. It features contributions from longtime friends and collaborators Jeff Fielder (acoustic, electric guitar), Daniel Walker (piano, Hammond organ), Jonas Haskins (bass), and Aaron O’Neil (drums), with John Askew overseeing production (producer of Cahoone’s From Where I Started).

Sera Cahoone is currently putting the finishing touches on her new album, due out later this year from Sub Pop.
