HARU NEMURI – ekkolaptómenos

Today, Japanese experimental poetic-punk artist HARU NEMURI released her third full-length album ekkolaptómenos, her first nationwide album since her critically acclaimed 2022 release Shunka Ryougen, and the inaugural offering from her newly founded independent label of the same name.

A genre-defying 11-track body of work, ekkolaptómenos fuses poetic punk, orchestral noise, fragmented pop, and lyrical resistance exploring destruction, rebirth, and the political violence of conformity. The title derives from the Greek ekkoláptō (“to hatch”) and -menos, a suffix denoting transformation in the mediopassive voice. Together, they evoke a being that is always in motion, birthing and being born, destroying and being destroyed.
HARU NEMURI shares, “Our souls don’t fit a single mold, yet the world often forces us to erase our differences to survive. Systems built for efficiency ignore individuality and quietly reinforce power. Drawing from Walter Benjamin’s idea of ‘divine violence’, the force that breaks laws rather than maintains them, this album is my attempt to fracture what feels unchangeable. The self, the now, the here. These aren’t fixed, but constantly transforming, hatching and being hatched, destroying and creating. If we accept that, then freer, more fluid ways of living together become possible.”
The album follows a powerful trilogy of singles released throughout 2025. The first, “anointment,” is a symphonic noise epic.”
Next, “panopticon” delivers a dance-punk critique of invisible systems of control.
The third single, “symposium,” offers a searing lyrical and physical response to distorted historical narratives and structural violence.
The album closes with “iconoclasm,” a poetic call to end cycles of harm, a spiritual plea wrapped in noise and clarity that asks whether we can live without becoming what once wounded us.
HARU NEMURI will embark on her “ekkolaptómenos” North American Tour 2025 this September, bringing her electrifying and visceral live show to nine major cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Toronto. This highly anticipated tour marks her triumphant return to international stages, where her passionate cult following continues to expand. Known for seamlessly blending poetry, punk, and experimental soundscapes, HARU NEMURI pushes the boundaries of music and emotion with every performance.
