Tan Cologne – Unknown Beyond

Tan Cologne, the enigmatic New Mexico-based duo of Lauren Green and Marissa Macias, release their third studio album Unknown Beyond via Labrador Records.

Uncoiling from the depths of perspectives shifting through deep life changes and loss, Unknown Beyond seeks a more spiritual process to the band’s previous work. It’s a cerebral record that echoes and shimmers with realms of the unseen, borderlands, and supernatural connection. “We looked for signs and signals during the recording process,” the band says. “If we saw a shooting star, imagined a fire burning on a hill, or remembered an old satellite dish in someone’s yard, we explored that lyrically. Those visual guides became our pathways to the album. They were the signs to move forward.”

Ahead of the release, the band unveiled a final look into the record with the focus track + video, “Cool Star.”

The album’s celestial opening track swoons and billows as the band sings of seeing a shooting star and believing you can communicate with the beyond. “It’s also our sensory transmission of the shade, tide, and temperature shift from the moon and planets as they orbit, and the coolness and pull made by them,” they add.

The accompanying video for “Cool Star” is sewn of lost, found, and archived imagery by filmmaker Carly Short, who has collaborated with Tan Cologne previously.

Following their recent European live dates with Trentemøller, Tan Cologne will be playing live dates throughout the summer in the US, including an album release show in Marfa, TX this Friday, June 20. The band also announced a secret show in Marfa on June 21, with the location being announced day of.
