Amie Blu – trees for the woods

Amie Blu is back with new single ‘trees for the woods.’
Teased across her socials to fevered fan responses since early January, ‘trees for the woods’ lands as Amie’s first new music since the release of her acclaimed debut album, ‘when all is said and done’, last autumn and captures her reflecting on life’s unforeseen twists and turns, and the beauty of hindsight.
Written and produced alongside Teo Halm (SZA, Roslia, Omar Apollo), Jim Reed and regular collaborators Will Hargeaves and Worm, ‘trees for the woods’ also follows Amie’s recent sold-out show at The Echo in Los Angeles, which saw Smino and Alemeda in attendance.
“trees for the woods is a saying i heard once but i guess it was worded wrong because the phrase is typically ‘wood for the trees’”, Amie explains. “idk, i found it funny and ‘trees for the woods’ sounded better for the song so I kept it as I had heard it. The song is about hindsight and wishing you knew what would’ve come from having someone in your life. I was too in it to understand it completely at the time, but I see it for what it is now type beat.”
A master of characterful self-expression and emotive, heart-on-her-sleeve songwriting, Amie has earned widespread critical acclaim since releasing her debut EP, ‘5 for U’, in 2022, being tipped by everyone from Cosmopolitan to New Wave Magazine and earning co-signs from the likes of SZA, Daniel Caesar, Kehlani, Fousheé, Faye Webster and Teezo Touchdown.
With more new music on the horizon, as well as summer dates at Primavera In The City, The Twilight Concert Series in Salt Lake City alongside Freddie Gibbs and a slot supporting Faye Webster across the UK in August, look out for more from Amie Blu soon.
