Baby Jane – Midnight Highway

Today, Baby Jane — a rising independent electronic artist carving her own path in the shadows of EDM — shares “Midnight Highway,” an angelic, momentous new single that pushes Baby Jane further into the world of trance and synthwave to conjure an enchanting scene at the Witching Hour.

“I wrote it about one romantic night with someone you can’t forget,” she says. “The beat makes me feel like I’m seeing diamonds shimmering in the dark.”

The “Midnight Highway” music video further builds Baby Jane’s shadowy, haunted world with visuals inspired by two iconic horror games: Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Their misty, moody, urban atmospheres — dark, dreamy industrial towns confined to the tiny box of a digital screen — adds to the cybernetic world of the dark cultish figure of Baby Jane.

“I think my music resonates with the gaming community,” says Baby Jane,”and they have supported me, so I like to give a nod to them.” After hosting a virtual meet and greet on Roblox last Halloween, performing a virtual DJ set with original music in a nightclub themed after her, Baby Jane’s music has reached several corners of the gaming community, with her viral single “Eternal Embrace” soundtracking the Shawarma Kiosk indie horror game. “Starry Eyed”, which features the artist playing Silent Hill on a CRT, has also amassed over 100k creates on TikTok as well.

Through all of this, Baby Jane has built a strong fan base of people who are equally passionate about fantasy and world-building, of understanding the harmony between visual, narrative, and musical art in great storytelling.

“Midnight Highway” is Baby Jane’s latest single from her upcoming album Winter Forever, out Friday, July 10.

Winter Forever

The new record traces a spirit navigating nihilism and emotional desolation, only to find freedom through surrender to rhythm, to movement, to the body dissolving inside sound. Drawing from Russian pop classics and the raw micro scenes of internet born bedroom hardstyle, Baby Jane continues carving a lane entirely on her own.

“An album that I started with the intention of expressing loneliness morphed into an album of escape and personal freedom,” says Baby Jane on Winter Forever. Allowing herself to push her creativity literally into new worlds — developing her own voice in the ethereal-meets-synthwave EDM microgenre known as “angelcore” — she has sketched a new universe with occult symbols, pagan religions, surrealist horror, abandoned concrete buildings, pixelated video games, and desolate fields.

“The joy that the creating the music gave me became a silver lining to the hopeless state I was in when I started,” she notes. “In the past, my approach with music creation was more cerebral. The thought I poured into each previous project helped me grow into the artist I am today that can act on intuition and gut feeling.”
