maryjo – Love To Hate Me

Emerging pop singer maryjo is thrilled to release her new single “Love to Hate Me” that is out now on all streaming platforms.
maryjo says, “Love to Hate Me” was written from two perspectives. On the surface, it explores a toxic relationship dynamic—those situations where one person seems to get something out of being cruel, pushing buttons, holding power, and staying in control. That unsettling feeling of someone almost enjoying the chaos they create. But as we kept writing, I had a quiet realization: I’ve played that role too—with myself.
Beneath the relationship story, the deeper meaning of this song is about a moment in my life when I was my own harshest critic, treating myself with the same judgment and hostility I once accepted from others. So while it may sound like a song about someone else, it’s really a reflection of how I felt about myself at that time—and the awareness that sometimes the most toxic relationship we’re in is the one we have within.”
maryjo is a 24-year-old singer-songwriter with an unforgettable voice tailor-made for heart-melting piano ballads. Known for her striking emotional range and vocal agility, she moves effortlessly from full-throated belting to fragile, crackling vulnerability. Born in Knoxville and raised in Cleveland, maryjo quietly nurtured her love for songwriting and piano after becoming shy about performing. It wasn’t until she began posting performance videos online that she broke through her fear—quickly captivating audiences with her raw talent and emotional honesty.
In support of her new music maryjo is set to kick off 2026 on the road as direct support for Alex Sampson. The tour launches February 6 in Anaheim at The Parish and wraps March 14 in Los Angeles at The Roxy, marking an exciting new chapter for the fast-rising artist.
