Michael Love Michael – Bruiser

Following the success of 2022’s To Build Me a House, pop singer Michael Love Michael is set to release new LP, Bruiser, dropping October 4 via Queer, independent record label, Get Better Records.

Along with the album announcement, Michael Love Michael shares the single “Deer,” a blend of Britney Spears era “I’m a Slave 4 U” and Nine Inch Nails’ poppier work. Think BDSM underground pop — perfect for a dark, sweaty nightclub rave or sex party in Berlin.
Of the new track, Michael Love Michael says: “I really wanted a dark, sexy banger on this album about the ‘loss of innocence.’ In that way, this song is quite literal. When I was 16, I got a driver’s license — a rite of passage when you’re young. I couldn’t wait to operate a machine as powerful as a car. One day, a few months after getting my license, while listening to Britney — my queen — I hit a deer, and it died. Fast forward to two years ago, Tom Ruijg approached me at a club in Amsterdam where I’d just performed. He had some beats in mind for me, and we recorded the song later that week. This was one of them. At the same time, I was recovering from a breakup. Later, I fleshed it out further with Reuben. Synchronicity and timing is everything.”
