Star’s Revenge – Star’s Revenge II

While the name Star’s Revenge may not be familiar, it’s members certainly are. The New York band is led by the writing duo of Olive Faber (guitar/vocals) of Sunflower Bean and Emily Green (guitar/vocals) who plays lead guitar in the ascendant rock band of the last several years Geese. The line up is filled out by two more NYC music veterans, Christian Billard (drums) of the legendary noise rock band Turnip King, and Jonny Ceballos (bass)who has played with Outremont, So Long Goodnight, and The Paranoyds (just to name a few).
The band released a debut LP in 2022, and while the its members have pursued their other projects, they’ve continued working on Star’s Revenge, playing scrappy DIY shows and perfecting a kind of frenetic power pop that splits the difference between the revved up twee of Talulah Gosh and the visceral garage pop of the Replacements.
Today, the band is announcing their second full length LP Star’s Revenge II and sharing the album’s first single “Don’t Worry Dynamite.”
The album will be release on November 27th, and to celebrate the band will be playing a four night residency at Hart Bar between December 28–31st, with different hand-picked openers each night.
Listening to Star’s Revenge is listening to music by people who love music; girls who grew up on classic rock and have spent their lives since ravenously discovering new sounds. Their songs are soaked in epic riffs and relentless fills, and paired perfectly with Olive’s mumble-plead vocals. There’s a sense of suspension in their work: moments and memories stretched just long enough to sink in, to replay, to live inside. Their lyrics are often an earnest celebration of the mundane, and their instrumentation transports listeners to far away memories. The result is a sound that feels both transportive and immediate — nostalgic without imitation, familiar yet entirely their own.

On Star’s Revenge II the band picks up right where the story left off. You are dropped into Star’s dreamlike world and taken on a trip through love, addiction and friendship. It is an intensely loud record for quiet people. Recorded live to tape at drummer Christian’s home studio on Long Island, Star’s Revenge II is packed full of empathy, catchy guitar riffs, and ear worm choruses you and your friends will be humming for days. The band is excited to get this record out into the world, while the leaves are turning orange and yellow and the cool air is washing everyone Clean.
