Kara Connolly – running with the wolves

“They threw me to the wolves and I became one,” Kara Connolly proclaims on “running with the wolves” — a dark, cinematic alt-pop anthem about shedding the conventions that tame us and returning to instinct, nature and wildness. Arriving under the October full moon (10/26), Kara’s new single channels the raw ritual and primal feminine power of her upcoming record leaving eden, whose first single earned support on Apple Music’s New in Alternative editorial playlist.
“This song is really special to me,” Kara says. “As an adult, I’m finally reclaiming the parts of myself that I was taught as a young girl to tame; my anger, my intuition, my opinion, my freedom, my wildness. As a little girl, I knew what I felt; I knew what I wanted, and I unapologetically spoke it. I always had a deep, innate sense of right vs. wrong and I shared those opinions without self-doubt or question. I loved little creatures like snails and goldfish because many treated them like they didn’t matter and I innately knew that everything in nature plays a significant role. At times, that little girl was labeled “difficult” and so somewhere along the way I pushed parts of her down in favor of playing the roles of mediator and peacekeeper, which I got really good at. But, that little self—the advocate, the warrior, the wild woman—returns to me in waves and I’m determined to welcome her into my life and give her the space to speak and the power to move. This song is a call for all of us to remember and embody the parts of ourselves that perhaps we’ve diluted along the way. We need them now more than ever.”
Kara Connolly is an award-nominated singer and songwriter found on both the 2020 and 2025 Grammy ballots with music featured in Lionsgate films, IKEA commercials, ABC ads, Showtime, Netflix, and HBO shows, as well as tastemaker publications such as SPIN Magazine, Billboard AR, Rolling Stone IN, Wonderland Magazine, and more. She’s been nominated for three Hollywood Music in Media Awards, was one of Music Connection Magazine’s Top Unsigned Artists of the Year, and, most recently, co-wrote the Billboard-charting “oops!” for HYBE/Belift Lab K-Pop group ILLIT (400K albums sold in its first week).
As an actor, Kara starred in a kid’s series called Hedgehog Land that was nominated for a Children’s & Family Emmy Award. As a musical artist, Kara’s last album, California Queen, a cathartic, alt-pop record centered around self-discovery, nears one million streams on Spotify alone. When she’s not selling out iconic venues like The Troubadour, Hotel Cafe and Peppermint Club, the multi-hyphenate artist acts as her own creative director to craft striking visual universes. She brings a distinct theatrical edge to everything she creates and is currently expanding that world with the release of her new EP, leaving eden, out December 8th, a cinematic concept record exploring the shadow side and reclaiming the mythology of misunderstood women.
