Elanor Moss – You Are Coming Home Tonight
Today, Elanor Moss shares a new music video for The Knife, The Needle highlight “You Are Coming Home Tonight.”
The Matthew Thorne-directed video, his fourth from The Knife, The Needle, finds Moss alone at a cafe table overlooking a pastoral countryside scene, a contemplative brushstroke highlighting the song’s theme of loneliness that are grounded in the gorgeous interplay between Moss’ voice and guitar. It arrives the day before Moss embarks on the UK leg of a worldwide tour supporting her acclaimed debut album.
Elanor Moss on “You Are Coming Home Tonight”:
This started as a verse melody and guitar part and just the first line and title. It stayed this way for months until I wrote the rest in one sitting to get it ready for a performance at the folk club I run. It explores themes of isolation and loneliness within a relationship when you become unable to say the things you need to say. It also explores how we can need too much from other people sometimes.
