Raveena – Blissed Out
Today, singer and songwriter Raveena shares a brand new single and video, “Blissed Out”, her first release of 2026.
Following a period of profound loss, growth and healing, “Blissed Out” is Raveena’s most deeply personal song to date, with the track chronicling the aftermath of the loss of Raveena’s mother. Beautifully lush and ethereal instrumentation is set against lyrics that are raw and hugely vulnerable, yet hopeful, with hints of the joy found in remembering someone so special. Guiding the listener, the song begins and ends with Raveena’s mother’s voice.
Raveena captures the universality of the process and experience of making “Blissed Out” in her own words: “Blissed Out (in contrast with its title) is one of my most vulnerable songs I’ve put out, about the aftermath of grief and loss. I had one of the hardest years of my life in 2025 and wanted to let fans meet me where I was at in the midst of all that change and pain. I love the kaleidoscope of emotion that happens in the song- by the end it feels like you are flying down the freeway or in the midst of colorful lights at a club, crying and feeling everything. To me, that’s what this last year has felt like. Feral, human, emotional, and even psychedelic in ways. I’m excited to tap into this new era of my artistry and sonics, informed by all this transformational experience I’ve had”.
The accompanying video, directed by Grant Spanier, feels like the perfect visual companion piece. A rumination on loss and a celebration of life, archival family footage is woven through scenes of Raveena in nature, the transcendence of the natural world to heal and reflect ever present.
“Blissed Out” follows the release of Raveena’s critically acclaimed 2024 album Where the Butterflies Go in the Rain and its 2025 deluxe edition. In her signature style, Raveena seamlessly united expansive songwriting with traditional Indian instruments and feel-good early 2000s pop hits. Where the Butterflies Go in the Rain followed Raveena’s 2022 opus, Asha’s Awakening, 2020’s Moonstone EP and 2019’s heralded debut album Lucid. All have showcased Raveena’s undeniable talent and multi-dimensionality as an artist by blending contemporary R&B with elements from the South Asian diaspora. Across a decade of art-making, Raveena has performed on some of the biggest stages including Coachella, Camp Flog Gnaw and Lollapalooza India, graced the cover of Office Magazine, Notion, Gay Times, Polyester, Ladygunn, Number One Journal, and collaborated with artists such as King Krule, Asha Puthli, Vince Staples, Annahstasia, JPEGMAFIA.
