Golden Cats – Golden Cats

The self-titled debut EP, Golden Cats, from emerging indie pop-rock duo Golden Cats is out now via Not A Label / AWAL. Alongside today’s release, Golden Cats are premiering the videos for “Little Bit.”

On the EP, shadow and light are two characters who keep finding and losing each other across different scenarios and timelines. They both want to be together, but experience their relationship in completely different ways. Their story follows their journey of finding each other, understanding each other, and eventually coming together.

Of the project, the duo explains, “When we started working on this, we wanted to explore the parts of ourselves that we hide, feel ashamed of, or struggle to understand. We’ve learned that healing doesn’t come from pretending those parts don’t exist, but from learning to love ourselves through them. This album is our way of expressing that journey, and the belief that sometimes you have to go through the darkness to find your way back to the light.”

Entirely self-contained, Golden Cats writes, produces, records, and mixes every song from their bedroom studio. Before forming the band, vocalist Laura Dalla launched her career as a solo artist, while drummer/producer Kyle Lenski spent years as a touring drummer and built an online audience through his viral drumming videos. The pair first met while rehearsing for another band, where a child remarked that, with Laura’s long black hair and Kyle’s golden locks, they had “Black Cat Girl” and “Retriever Boy” energy—a moment that would ultimately inspire the name Golden Cats.

Blending nostalgic alternative rock with infectious pop songwriting and a whimsical, story-driven universe, Golden Cats has amassed more than 30M streams and nearly 200K+ followers across platforms in just their first year.

Laura and Kyle have built far more than a band—they’ve created a world. Their growing community of fans, affectionately known as the “kittens,” has become deeply invested not only in the music, but in the characters, lore, and optimism that define the Golden Cats universe. With a devoted fan community, an unmistakable visual identity, and a fully independent creative process, Golden Cats is proving that artists can build an immersive world every bit as compelling as the music itself.
