Lily Seabird – Lightspheres On Their Way

Vermont-based singer and songwriter Lily Seabird releases her anticipated new album, Lightspheres on Their Way, via Lame-O Records.

In conjunction, she announces an east coast tour in support of the record. Following previously released tracks “The Afterglow,” “Election Day,” and “Portal to the Past,” “Lightspheres on Their Way” captures the all-encompassing storytelling of the album.
Seabird’s novelistic perspective is illustrated, channeling memories, events, and characters from her life into a hard-fought journey of self-actualization, and the awareness of how precious and fleeting it all really is. The track revels in fuzzy warmth and gritty guitars, putting Seabird’s superb songwriting at the forefront.
Across the record, Seabird orbits around the concept of lightspheres as a catalysing presence or force that visits time and time again and shifts stories, feelings and trajectories. Seabird elaborates: “Lightspheres are so many things throughout this record, UFOs, memories, dreams, people, an unknown force pushing and pulling us through. Without being too specific I think in a lot of ways this song deals with the feeling of loving someone through a great distance.
I was also thinking a lot about Brent Mydland who was the keyboardist of the Grateful Dead from 1979-1990, the end of this song is really inspired by his song ‘I Will Take You Home,’ specifically the studio version which is on Built to Last (1989). Recording this song was really fun and figuring out the arrangement me Daniel and Rick really worked this one out together. The outro of this song is my favorite part which we completely improvised and kept.”
Lily Seabird will continue performing select dates in the UK, before returning stateside to open for Black Country, New Road. Following, she’ll head back to the UK/EU to open for Greg Mendez’s newly-announced shows. After, she’ll return to the east coast for a headlining run. As Paste sums it up, “Lily Seabird is on a roll” – don’t miss these shows.
