“‘Canon’ plays with the contradiction between the sentiment of the sound versus the lyrics. I wrote a very upbeat, fun instrumental about an otherwise very painful chapter of my 20’s. I found a way to explore those emotions without creating a black-and-white experience for the listeners by writing a “sad” sounding song for a “sad” life event. Rather, I wanted to mirror the emotional complexity of  the hardship I went through with the feeling of the song itself.” – Leedy
