The Linda Lindas – Gotta Get Out
The Linda Lindas announce their anticipated new album, GOTTA GET OUT, arriving August 28th via Reprise/Warner Records.
To mark the occasion, the Los Angeles band is releasing the album’s explosive new single “Closer (Feat. Hayley Williams).”
What began as a bilingual song Bela Salazar and Lucia de la Garza were working on while Eloise Wong and Mila de la Garza were at school, transformed into a maximalist wall of guitars and layered vocals, featuring the one and only Hayley Williams. Matching the band’s IRL ethos, instead of sending a clip across the ether, Williams showed up to the studio. She helped write the bridge, and then they all went to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios together. Hayley later told them “Closer” felt like listening to her teenage self.
“Closer” is about feeling like you’re losing control of time, and watching yourself grow older from afar,” share Bela and Lucia. “Lately, we’ve been realizing how important it is to stay present, especially when our lives feel constantly in motion. It feels perfect that Hayley Williams was down to collaborate on this song with us, because we’ve been fans of her throughout so many of her different eras– and she’s seen us grow up over the last ten years! We’ll always be honored that we got to write and get emo with the queen of emo herself.”
GOTTA GET OUT is the sound of The Linda Lindas discovering who they are. After years of building momentum through acclaimed releases, major tours, and a rapidly growing profile, the band set out to break from familiar habits, retreating to Palm Springs and Long Beach to write together in the same room for the first time. What began as an experiment in collaboration became a creative breakthrough, with unfinished ideas, spontaneous demos, and shared experimentation shaping a collection of songs that feels more intentional, expansive, and personal than anything they’ve made before.
Across the record, The Linda Lindas push the boundaries of their sound through new textures, influences, and songwriting approaches while capturing a desire for change, growth, and escape from old versions of oneself. From intimate reflections on belonging and self-discovery to explosive expressions of frustration, hope, and community, the songs reveal a band unafraid to challenge itself. That spirit extends beyond the music into the album’s visual world and production, both of which embrace imperfection, humanity, and the energy of the creative process. The result is GOTTA GET OUT: an ambitious, fully realized statement that documents not only where The Linda Lindas are now, but how they got there.
The Linda Lindas will be touring with Bleachers on the west coast this fall, as well as at Tom Morello’s Power To The People Festival.
