Daisy The Great – Can I Have A Moment

New York City-based duo Daisy the Great today share a buoyant yet quietly devastating single “Can I Have A Moment”, out today via S-Curve Records.
The track follows the release of their 2025 LP The Rubber Teeth Talk, which was produced by Catherine Marks. The deceivingly jovial and upbeat new single “Can I Have A Moment” centers around a relatable pain behind the end of a relationship.
“‘Can I Have A Moment’ came out of a breakup, and it was really cathartic to let those feelings of desperation and rejection bubble inside a song that grew to be so spirited and wry and playful,” share Daisy the Great. “We recorded the song in our drummer Matti’s basement studio and it was such a creative and fun day. We were all layering a bunch of different parts on the track and it felt so intuitive and connected. ‘Can I Have A Moment’ is a cry into the ether of wanting to be loved and noticed by someone who once loved you back.”
Leaning further into their creative community of like-minded artists in New York City, “Can I Have A Moment” features a music video directed by best-friend-of-the-band and actor Jack Haven, best known for their roles in groundbreaking projects I Saw The TV Glow and Atypical. Where the song captures the messy and embarrassing act of throwing your heart into the ether for love, Haven’s video came together in a similarly frenzied yet emotionally tender context.
Mina Walker and Kelley Dugan elaborate on their collaboration with Haven: “The three of us went to acting school together and have been taking every opportunity to work with one another since. They’ve been in a few of our music videos, most famously as the star of ‘Dips’, puppeteering my (Dugan’s) favorite coat. Jack just finished their second no-budget feature and we love the way they think about film-making. Their style feels so fresh, gritty, and spontaneous. It really sets them apart in a world where a lot of things can feel overproduced.
The song is about being embarrassing and frantic for attention, and we were definitely feeling that while filming. Jack sent some references for costume, including Ellen Burstyn in Requiem For A Dream, Franka Potente in Run Lola Run, Liza Minnelli holding a rose, and a lot of people in bowler hats peeking around corners. We really embraced the theatricality of it all and let ourselves run wild and free around New York like we did together in college. It was so much fun and we’re very proud of the video.”
An inimitable record of edgy guitars, with spiraling synths and the duo’s immaculately stacked harmonies and uncanny melodies front and center, The Rubber Teeth Talk further cemented Daisy the Great as curious songwriters who can craft earworms from the smallest and largest moments of everyday life. Beyond the album, the band also recently released a cover of “Tom’s Diner” and an original track, “Blood Dye 40,” showcasing their signature “hocket” vocal technique – a style that has racked up over 210+ million views across social media and become a staple of their live show. Be sure to catch the band on their North American Spring tour with headlining dates and a run supporting Tash Sultana.
