ALEWYA – Selah

ALEWYA by Bernice Mulenga

Today, critically acclaimed London-based Ethiopian-Egyptian artist and curator Alewya releases “Selah.”

The latest single from her upcoming debut album ZERO – due June 26th via Because London Records – has also recently been included in the FIFA 26 soundtrack. Produced by longtime collaborators Busy Twist – the force behind fan favorites “Play” and “Sweating” – “Selah’ is packed with raw energy fueled by pulsing instrumentation and an infectious bassline, layered with her effortlessly flawless vocals. Notes Alewya said, “Selah came from playful instinct.”

Directed by Iggy London with Creative Direction by Lee Trigg, the track’s accompanying video features Alewya surrounded by color and movement, as a London party comes alive with dancers, energy and collective release. The video also features movement director Kitz Katila who previously featured in Aleway’s “Zuggy” video.

Rooted in a club-ready afro-infused sound, “Selah” reveals another dimension of the forthcoming album, and follows early singles “Eshi” – a track rooted in heritage by weaving in Ethiopian instrumentation called Masenqo; “City of Symbols” which features her signature weave of Ethiopian rhythms and underground London beats; and “Night Drive,” a track that marked a rebirth as Alewya shed her old skin and stepped into a new creative era and way of life.

Alewya has cemented herself as one of the most distinctive and vital voices redefining global sound today. With her forthcoming album ZERO, Alewya embodies years of artistic growth into a debut that is deeply personal and sonically expansive. Standing at the forefront of a new creative era, defined by fearless experimentation and cultural fluidity, she steps fully into her power.

ZERO marks a significant and unmissable milestone for one of London’s most compelling voices.
