Sophia James – I Always Do

Singer-songwriter Sophia James releases her powerful new single “I Always Do” today alongside an official music video.
The song will appear on her upcoming EP, The Wrong Shoe Theory, arriving May 1, continuing the momentum following the viral success of “So Unfair.”
Written during a moment of emotional exhaustion while supporting someone she loved through a difficult time, “I Always Do” explores what remains when optimism feels impossible.
“What do you tell someone you love when ‘it will be okay’ feels untrue, and when optimism isn’t an appropriate response,” says Sophia. “I once found myself running out of ways to reassure someone struggling through a time of deep pain, and while I didn’t have answers for them, I did have the ability to communicate my unwavering love. So I wrote ‘I Always Do’ as a song for the end of the world, where there may not be hope but there is love, which is enough.”
“I Always Do” will be included on Sophia’s upcoming EP, The Wrong Shoe Theory, due out May 1. The collection will also feature fan favorites “So Unfair,” “Sunshine and Apathy,” and “Little Bit Better” alongside a brand new track titled “You Make Me So Happy I Wanna Die.”
Sophia will also bring the new music to the stage with two newly announced headline shows: Wednesday, June 17 at Brooklyn, NY’s Baby’s All Right and Friday, June 26 at The Echo in Los Angeles. The live announcements arrive alongside another major moment: Sophia will make her national morning show debut on NBC’s TODAY on March 31.
The new single follows a breakout year for Sophia, whose TikTok “science experiment” posting seven promotional videos for “So Unfair” created the now-famous “Group 7” community online. Clip 7 exploded across the platform and beyond, generating hundreds of millions of views and becoming one of the most unexpectedly joyful corners of the internet, with everyone from the Blue Man Group to Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai joining the trend. Now entering her most ambitious chapter yet, Sophia will release her new EP on May 1, with her full-length debut album arriving later this year, produced by GRAMMY®-nominated, multi-platinum producer Alex Bilowitz.
