Wunder Beta – Sol e Anoitecer (Sun and Dusk)

Following the acclaimed releases of ‘Lost Ourselves’ and ‘Waiting Here’ earlier in the year, WUNDER BETA proves her worth once again as she leans into her Brazilian roots on new carefree, summer-infused single, ‘Sol e Anoitecer (Sun and Dusk)’.
Making waves across the underground already, with only three singles to her name, the release is the latest to be taken from her forthcoming debut EP as she continues to pioneer her distinctive Electro-Bossa sound.
With its Bossa Nova enthused rhythms and vibrant pop-laced melodies, ‘Sol e Anoitecer (Sun and Dusk)’ offers a shimmering ode to romance. The track seamlessly blends alternative soundscapes with a pulsing electronica heart, marking the artist’s fluid command of genre and feeling. With the single sporting swirling synths and an almost dreamy backbone, the single highlights BETA’s magnetic ability to break genre conventions with finesse and style. A sonic bridge between two homes, it captures the sun-drenched shimmer of Rio de Janeiro with the nocturnal pulse of London.
Translating to ‘The Sun and the Dusk’, the single sees WUNDER BETA tap into the hearts and minds of listeners with its unified emotive presence, radiating like a golden-hour dream. Though delivered in Portuguese, the single transcends any language barrier, providing a refreshing lens on the all-encompassing nature of falling in love, as if Astrud Gilberto met Bonobo at a rooftop party.
“Sol e Anoitecer (Sun and Dusk) is about that unexpected moment you realise you’re falling in love with someone. Everything slows down and sharpens at the same time. Like the sky melting from orange to purple as the sun makes space for the night. And you notice all the little things that make the ordinary special: the deep late-night conversations, dancing barefoot in the living room until dawn, feeling the sea waves together. It’s warm, golden, and just a little surreal, like watching the sunset from inside your own chest.”
With her roots in the neighbourhood of Ipanema, WUNDER BETA breathed life into her new track, following in the footsteps of the giants of the late 50s by composing ‘O Sol e o Amanhecer’ in classical guitar, before fusing its core elements with synthesisers, electronic beats and modern elements, creating Electro-Bossa that defines her work.
Pushing her artistic language further, Sol e o Anoitecer teases the sonic richness of her forthcoming debut EP Love You To Beats, a genre-defying journey blending emotional pop, electronic textures, and Brazilian rhythm science. Seamlessly fusing the synthesised intensity of electronica with the purity of contemporary pop music, the EP cuts a deep groove just as immersive as it is euphoric. Whirling organs and classical guitar lines give the EP a fascinating charm, guiding the listener on a journey of emotions. The four-track EP covers the highs and lows of self-discovery, with each of the EP’s pieces coming together to form a colourful sonic tapestry, brimming with dazzling electronica and alluring Bossa Nova backbeats.
“I wrote this EP to take you on a journey of emotions, life stories, and dilemmas punctuated by unique beats. My lyrics were inspired by our longing to be loved, often feeling lost and lonely, and then finding purpose in the present moment. Unearthing answers on our deepest emotions, on the beat of our hearts, and the warm feeling of the sunset. I wanted to tell people about the magic of living in the now, loving to the fullest, and expanding our souls beyond the skies. Sonically, I created a kaleidoscope of electronic sounds woven into my ethereal-dreamy vocals, with nods to my Brazilian Bossa Nova influences.”
WUNDER BETA is an artistic project built upon immersion and expansion, creating a platform that gives diverse cultures and communities a space for wonder. Igniting a communal spark, the project sets out to encourage people to connect with their deepest intuitions and emotions. Inspired by the risk-taking ethos of David Bowie, she iconifies her emphatic brand with a lightning bolt, likening the bridge between the earth and the skies to the connection between artistry and her audience. WUNDER BETA enigmatically pushes the boundaries of creativity, crafting an intricate groove that blends indietronica and iconic Brazilian beats.
“I belong to the world of immigrants of identity, wonder-seekers and overthinking achievers. The ones who buried their creativity under ambition, but deep down, always longed for light, colour, chaos and feeling.”
Before becoming an artist, WUNDER BETA has been striking her iconic lightning bolt into many creative endeavours. After swapping Brazil for London, she co-founded the BAFTA award-winning video games studio Bossa Games, kick-started a wearable art brand and launched a podcast that delves into human curiosity. She has been listed as one of Forbes’ Top 50 Women In Tech, London Standard’s Most Influential People in Creative Arts, whilst also being championed by BBC News, Sky News and Disney Channel.
