Vanelle – Blue Curls

Vanelle Announce New Single “Blue Curls”, Out 30th July on Beans On Toast Records
Berlin trio return with a coming−of−age anthem packed with dreamy nostalgia and emotional truth
Berlin−based trio Vanelle are set to release their second single, “Blue Curls”, on 30th July 2025 via their new label home, Beans On Toast Records. It marks their first release with the Berlin indie imprint and follows their 2024 debut single “Ocean’s Lullaby”, which earned a coveted spot for newcomer artists in Spotify’s Fresh Finds GSA playlist.
Formed in 2023, Vanelle is made up of Aubrey Sabayle, Jeremy Adam, and Nick Henderson — three longtime collaborators whose creative chemistry finally crystallized one late night in Berlin. What began as a spontaneous writing session and a few glasses of wine quickly evolved into something undeniable. Vanelle was born almost accidentally, but with total clarity.
Their sound — a blend of cinematic textures, hazy melodies, and honest storytelling — has been described as “dreamy nostalgia wrapped in emotional immediacy.” Or, as the band likes to put it: like sharing the other earbud with someone who gets it.
At the heart of Vanelle’s music is the interplay between Jeremy’s delicate guitar lines, Nick’s warm, time-warped production, and Aubrey’s vivid, vulnerable vocals. Together, they craft intimate soundscapes that feel like quiet confessions or the soundtrack to a memory you’re still trying to understand.
Their new single “Blue Curls” dives deep into the emotional labyrinth of adolescence. Told through the eyes of a teenage girl who had Blue hair to stand out — only to find herself more isolated than ever — the song captures the aching tension between self-expression and belonging.
The narrative follows her journey from rebellion to conformity: blue curls swapped for Madonna-blonde hair in a desperate bid for approval. She gets into the parties, finally feels seen — but not as herself. The moment of clarity hits when she realizes she never wanted to impress anyone in the first place.
Threaded throughout the track is the ghostly voice of her mother calling out, “Wait a minute!” — a protective echo that becomes both a warning and a lifeline.
“Blue Curls is a story about identity, FOMO, and the cost of chasing acceptance,” says the band. “It’s about learning the hard way that being yourself is the only way to really belong.”
