Lisa LeBlanc – Too Many Cooks

Lisa LeBlanc returns today with “Too Many Cooks,” a highly catchy song that blends funk and country music.
Following “A Fleeting Thought Becomes Another Fleeting Thought” and “Whole Lotta Talkin’,” this is the third single from the album Patchwork, due out on February 5, 2027, via Bonsound. Her sixth album is currently available for pre-order on vinyl, CD, and in digital formats.
Driven by a bouncy fingerpicking riff inspired by the legendary guitarist Chet Atkins, “Too Many Cooks” unfolds with bass grooves and elegant brass arrangements, nodding to James Brown and Chic. Somewhere between funk and country, “Too Many Cooks” was co-produced by Benoit Morier—who has been playing with the Acadian singer-songwriter for many years—along with LeBlanc and Eric Heigle (Lost Bayou Ramblers). Also featured on this playful new single are Ben Tanner (Alabama Shakes) and Ben Alleman (Dr. John, Social Distortion) on keyboards and piano; Sébastien Michaud on brass; Mico Roy (Les Hotesses d’Hilaire) on guitar; and Maxime Gosselin on drums.
“The music video for ‘Too Many Cooks’ is inspired by a reality cooking show where contestants host the other participants in their homes,” explains LeBlanc. “I’m competing against little mischievous puppets who are trying to sabotage my chances to win. Based on the turn of phrase ‘Too many cooks in the kitchen,’ it’s a quirky, kinda funky, kinda country fun tune!”

Much like a travel journal, Patchwork offers an observation of everyday life set to music with sensitivity and humour. The roots of the album stretch from Moncton, New Brunswick, to Lafayette, Louisiana, two cities separated by more than 3,500 kilometres, a distance that Lisa LeBlanc travelled in her van during a two-month road trip. In the years leading up to the recording of her sixth album, the Acadian musician also spent time in Corsica, where the rugged landscapes struck her, and in Ireland, where the cliffs and traditional music festivals brought her a new creative spark.
Though nature plays a significant role on this new album, Lisa channels her love for 60s and 70s folk and rock music to create a rich tapestry of melodies, harmonies, and grooves. She also draws inspiration from traditional Cajun and Acadian music, thus crafting an original, timeless sound that only she could have conceived. The album’s title, Patchwork, is a nod to Lisa’s grandmother, who, for over 50 years, has been making quilts meticulously from fabric scraps that were not originally meant to be sewn together.
She also announced 2027 US tour dates today, with shows in Brooklyn, Boston, DC, and more. Tickets will be on sale soon. Additionally, she’ll be performing at the Théâtre Plaza in Montreal as part of M for Montreal’s official selection on November 19, 2026.
