Ebony Riley – Sick Of Me

Following the critically acclaimed release of her debut album Beautiful Tragedy, Detroit-born singer-songwriter Ebony Riley returns today with the official music video for “Sick Of Me.”
Directed by Siwoo, the cinematic visual brings the song’s message to life through a card game where Riley comes face-to-face with different versions of herself. Bathed in luminescent lighting, the video opens with the singer outside as streetlights reflect off the wet pavement before taking us into a room where cards, poker chips, and drinks fill the table. The final moments bring everything back to where the game began, only this time, she’s sitting alone with no one left across from her.
Serving as the anthemic opener to Beautiful Tragedy, “Sick Of Me” captures Riley at her most fearless, both vocally and lyrically, as she refuses to tiptoe around anyone else’s feelings, all while recognizing the ways she’s been standing in her own way. It’s the latest track from the LP to receive a video treatment, following the Rodney Jerkins-produced “Honest.” Together, the two releases capture the deeply personal nature of Beautiful Tragedy, a soul-bearing debut that introduces Riley as one of R&B’s most compelling new voices.

Dedicated to her late mother, Beautiful Tragedy is an achingly honest reflection on everything Riley has lived through and the woman she’s become along the way. Rather than allowing loss to define her story, the singer turns her most life-changing experiences into an album about growth, self-worth, and learning to put herself first. “I had to be more intentional about speaking life into myself,” she previously shared.
Behind the scenes, Riley worked with some of R&B’s most celebrated names, including executive producer Larrance “Rance” Dopson, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, James Fauntleroy, Tommy “TBHits” Brown, and Harmony Samuels. Across its 13 tracks, she brought an array of classic R&B influences into the present, anchored by a voice that moves effortlessly from pillowy, ethereal highs to dusky, honeyed lows.
Among the album’s many highlights is “Only You,” which recently celebrated its one-year anniversary after reaching No. 15 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. There’s also “Healing,” centered on the lonely pursuit of inner peace, and “Why Pt. 2,” which revisits a song from her 2023 Ebony EP. The project closes with “Bloom,” a fitting reminder that even after life’s most difficult chapters, there’s still room for renewal.
