Nadia Faye – drift

Nadia Faye by Marley Chaney2

Today, New York City-based musician Nadia Faye shares new pulsing single “drift,” out now, an emotive, swirling tune that sinks into the space between longing, desire and tension. On the stirring tune with its matching video,

Faye untangles the impermanence of attachment and the fleeting nature of life, love and unfulfilled longing.

Co-produced with musician and collaborator Max Morgen, “drift” features Nadia Faye’s vocals floating over carefully plucked guitar chords. Faye says, “This song conveys the disorienting drift of being swayed by someone’s fleeting affection. Under fluid “water movements,” I become suffocated by my own perpetual desire and the impermanence of attachment. I know it is not enough, and I can feel the withholding drag me under, but it is still better than nothing, and what could ever be enough?” Sonically, Faye shares, “Our production choices on the track mirror this emotional unrest; chorusy guitar and vocal melodies float over pulsing, consistent drums and bass.”

Faye enjoyed the music video-making process more than ever before. “We shot it over two days in LA and it all felt so natural and so joyful, chasing ideas as they came to us and what felt most resonant in the moment. It is the first music video I’ve made in years, and while I used to really dread the filming process, something shifted in me and from beginning to end, the entire creation came together with such ease. Working with a team of incredibly talented and inspiring visual creatives is such a gift and seeing the music come alive in a visual sense has been such an honor to be a part of.”

The light, rich, dreamy world throughout the video is sharply contrasted by scenes of solitude and darkness, suffocated by her own desire. Fayes adds, “I think this concept highlights the emotional center of the song, unfulfilled longing.”

Nadia Faye is a New York City-based musician who carefully crafts sonic stories that are ethereal, thoughtful and embodied. In 2025, Faye shared her debut album, Gardening, filled with expansive production and cathartic peaks. After dropping out of NYU, new music came flooding in. Equipped with a deep love of poetry and creative writing, she returns now with a new perspective and more intention. Driven by a tender ache for connection, the music now feels lived in and more self-assured than ever before.
