Egoism – It Takes Two

Sydney trio EGOISM release “It Takes Two”, the latest single from the band following their sold-out Just a Local Band Tour. The track arrives with strong editorial support across Spotify, Apple Music, and DSP platforms, alongside triple j First Play status and TV rotation on ABC TV/ABC Entertains (25, 27, 28 September).
Opening with a sliding guitar line that feels almost carefree, “It Takes Two” quickly builds into something far more urgent. Beneath its bright guitars and early-2000s indie influence sits a song about mutual impulse—the moment two people choose to step towards each other despite knowing exactly where it could lead.
“I used to write lyrics in a very overt way, like a narrative, but this song is more abstract,” explains Scout. “I tried to capture a moment of impulse where two people decide to hook up despite their history. The music and lyrics are about the thrill of taking a risk and succumbing to lust.”
The tension between restraint and desire drives the track, building into a chorus that captures both the exhilaration and inevitability of giving in.
Self-described as “Just a Local Band from Sydney”, EGOISM have quietly built something much bigger. Following their #1 AIR chart and #9 ARIA debut album And Go Nowhere (2025), the band has sold out two consecutive national headline tours and collaborated with half alive, Teenage Dads, The Rions, Middle Kids, Last Dinosaurs, Hatchie, UPSAHL, and Eliza & The Delusionals.
