Ashley Monroe – Dreaming
Today, GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter Ashley Monroe released the official video for “Dreaming,” the latest installment in the evolving visual companion to her critically acclaimed new album Dear Nashville that she surprise-released in March alongside a letter to her home city Nashville.
The eight-song concept album was co-produced by Luke Laird, with whom Monroe co-wrote each of the album’s eight tracks.
Directed by Becky Fluke, the video marks the 6th chapter in the project, which will ultimately bring every song on the album to life on screen.
‘Dreaming’ is kinda like my country version of ‘Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe’ to Nashville,” Monroe explains. “I wake up every day with a song in my heart, and I never even let myself imagine a world where I don’t get to keep dreaming. Let me stay in honky-tonk La La Land forever. Maybe it’s a lie, but I do love a little delusion.”
Dear Nashville was released to immediate acclaim, drawing attention from Music Row, The New York Times, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Stereogum, Billboard who proclaimed, “she astutely etches a distinction between the beloved styles of country music that continually inspire her musical passion and creativity… and the industry’s harsh, endless and often unforgiving demands.”
The official video for the album opener “I Hate Nashville” was shot at The Station Inn, where Monroe held two sold out album release shows where she performed the collection in full alongside the album’s co-writer and co-producer Luke Laird, and pedal steel player Paul Franklin. The official video for “Steal” found Monroe reflecting on moments from across her career – from collaborating with Jack White, to sharing the stage with John Prine, and hanging out with her Pistol Annies bandmates. She also released videos for “Haunted,” “Gettin’ Out Of Hand” and “What Are We?”
