“Bad Habit is a love letter to my younger self, my inner child,” Anna explains. “It’s what I would say if I could go back in time; but it’s also what I say to myself today because that little girl is still very much alive in me. This song and its message were a mantra for me while finishing the record. “We made it through the worst part baby, you’re not late, you’re right on time.” Nothing in my life has gone the way I expected, and for a long time I blamed that on trauma. Now I realize I was never late. I’ve always been right on time.
Rather than dwelling in regret, “Bad Habit” transforms lived experience into liberation. Its soaring chorus; “Kick it like a bad habit / Clearing out the static”; becomes a declaration of independence from negative self-talk, shame, and the relentless inner critic that so many people carry.
Written by Anna Moon and Daniel St. Black, produced by Daniel St. Black, mixed by Andy Toy, and mastered by Voyager Mastering, the track pairs expansive Americana instrumentation with an uplifting emotional arc. Echoes of The War on Drugs, Bruce Springsteen, Fleet Foxes, Tom Petty, and Waxahatchee are unmistakable, yet Anna’s voice remains entirely her own; warm, vulnerable, and profoundly human.
For Anna, songwriting has long been more than creative expression; it is a spiritual practice. Highly sensitive and deeply intuitive, she has built a career translating complicated emotions into songs that make listeners feel seen. Her music has appeared in Grey’s Anatomy, The Young & The Restless, General Hospital, Hallmark Channel’s 12 Dates Till Christmas, Love Is Blind, Married at First Sight, Teen Mom, and most recently in the trailer for Marked Men: Rule + Shaw.
Originally from Littleton, Colorado, Anna began writing songs at just fourteen years old after learning her first three guitar chords. Since then, she has collaborated with acclaimed artists and producers including Greg Laswell, GRAMMY Award-winning artist Lucky Diaz, Caleb Nelson (Mt. Joy), Ryan Hughes, Daniel St. Black, Andy Toy, and Emmy Award-winning songwriter and producer Bobby Hartry.
“Bad Habit” also offers another glimpse into Anna’s highly anticipated debut full-length album, Oh My God! It’s a Resurrection, arriving September 18 2026.
The album was born from a transformative solo road trip across the American Southwest in late 2024. Surrounded by vast desert landscapes and endless highways, Anna found the vision for the record she had always wanted to make; one designed to be blasted through open car windows, sung at the top of your lungs beneath a rising full moon, and carried with listeners through both heartbreak and hope.
“I wanted to make a record that I’d listen to over and over again,” Anna says. “A record for people to scream the lyrics to on a road trip. Life is heartbreaking, beautiful, messy, and miraculous all at once. This album embraces all of it.”
