Larissa Lambert – So Close

Larissa Lambert by Tonia Blake

Australian singer-songwriter Larissa Lambert returns with ‘So Close’, the latest single from her forthcoming debut album, Yearning, arriving 18 September via New Levels.

Sonically, ‘So Close’ finds Larissa leaning into the lush, romantic side of her artistry. Airy production, acoustic guitar textures, layered harmonies, and a slow, hypnotic groove create a dreamlike backdrop for her effortless vocal performance. Anchored by silky, breathy vocals and the signature runs, the record blends nostalgic R&B influences with contemporary songwriting, creating a listening experience that feels both intimate and expansive.

Following the fearless devotion of ‘I Love You Out Loud’ and the self-reflection explored on ‘Blood On The Strings’, ‘So Close’ marks the next chapter in the emotional journey of Yearning. Through this song, Larissa navigates the anticipation, uncertainty, and excitement of wanting someone who’s just within reach.

“With So Close, I wanted to capture the feeling right before a first kiss or the first time you become intimate with someone you’re really into,” says Larissa.

“It’s about the anticipation and tension that builds when you both know what’s about to happen, but neither of you has made the first move yet. There’s a sense of suspense throughout the song, almost like I’m saying, ‘Okay, we both know what this is now, so hurry up… what are you waiting for?’ It’s playful, impatient, and full of that excitement that comes with wanting someone who’s just within reach.”

Ahead of release, Larissa has been teasing snippets of ‘So Close’ across social media, giving fans an early glimpse into the next chapter of Yearning and building anticipation for the song’s arrival. Last month, she also performed singles from her upcoming album to a sold-out crowd at Sydney’s Lansdowne Hotel as part of the Great Southern Nights showcase, with ‘So Close’ being one of her most anticipated releases.

Across Yearning, Larissa explores love from every angle; not only romantic love, but the ways it shapes our relationship with ourselves. The album moves through vulnerability, devotion, longing, self-reflection, healing, desire, and acceptance, with each release serving as a new chapter in an unfolding narrative shaped by romance, fantasy, nostalgia, and emotional honesty.
