New York City’s Chanpan releases their new EP, autogratis, via EQT Recordings.

The 7-track EP is jam-packed with explosive break beats, thrashing guitars, tender bangers and thoughtful lyricism, properly bringing the inner-world of Chanpan to the forefront. autogratis is a step from the worldliness of their debut EP endlessly into the personal, laced with vulnerability and self-liberation, detailing the experience of their rapidly changing lives. Chanpan embrace their instinctive, unfiltered creative voice across the compilation, which includes the focus track “jesus in china” along with the previously shared singles “i got a gun,” “confessions part iii,” and “buzzin,” which premiered as a performance on COLORS.

In celebration of the EP release, Chanpan join Heart of Dinner in New York City’s Chinatown today to assemble care packages for local elders, aunties, and uncles ahead of their release party tonight.

Speaking about autogratis, Chanpan shares:

“auto=self

gratis=free of cost

Since ‘endlessly,’ our lives have changed tremendously. We’ve navigated strains on relationships with ourselves, loved ones, supporters, and strangers.

‘autogratis’ follows the peaks and valleys on our new life path as musicians. This EP is the musical catharsis of us smashing through every single expectation, constraint, and assumption we experience.

We are the most true to self and vulnerable we’ve ever been, and we offer ourselves freely to whomever receives us.”

In the making of autogratis, the band reunited with key collaborators, including producer Frankie Scoca (NewJeans, Sevdaliza), Pom Pom (John Legend, flowerovlove), mix engineer Migui Maloles (Daniel Caesar, Killer Mike), and mastering engineer Alec Ness (Paris Texas, After), in addition to new contributors like Louie Lastic (Kali Uchis, Destin Conrad) and Taydex & Wes Singerman (Joji, Keshi), among others.

Chanpan began in Chinatown, NYC, where Grace Dumdaw (they/them) and identical twin brothers Lance and Matthew Tran (both he/him) started busking to fund the recording of their first EP, endlessly. The three quickly grabbed the attention of the fashion and music world alike and later released the aforementioned EP and joined Haru Nemuri on tour in 2024. The band’s growth continued through 2025 with the release of their EP endlessly, sold-out headline shows in NYC and LA, several viral moments, K-Pop co-signs, and another tour with Post Animal.

Earlier this month, Chanpan took the Governors Ball stage for their debut festival performance, which was praised by Rolling Stone, Cosmopolitan, The FADER, and more. Teen Vogue highlighted the group’s set, noting, “The act represents the success story of homegrown talent, going from busking in the city to playing its biggest festival, establishing themselves as ones to watch.” This September, Chanpan will embark on their debut headline North American tour. Spanning 17 dates across the country, the tour will conclude with a hometown show in New York City at Baby’s All Right.
