Aubory Bugg – i think i had something once

Today, 21-year-old singer-songwriter and rising star Aubory Bugg has officially announced her debut album – i think i had something once, out September 18 via Dualtone.

Alongside the album announcement, Bugg has dropped a brand-new single “nosedive” available now on all platforms.
This is Aubory Bugg’s version of living life to its fullest, singing songs that remind us to keep dreaming, and working. Now with over 188k TikTok followers, Aubory is living her best life in Nashville, surrounded by a thriving community of queer artists and collaborators. The new album captures a pivotal chapter for this exciting new artist — navigating identity, independence, and the emotional weight of leaving home. She has finally found where she belongs – she’s arrived, and that means she’s just getting started.
Bugg’s absolutely stunning vocals have a timeless and contemporary quality, bringing to mind the likes of legends from Joni Mitchell to Phoebe Bridgers and everyone in between. Whether it’s loss of romantic relationships, (“nosedive”, “i can’t”) looking back on childhood (“i think i had something once”), or the passing of a loved one (“i’ve come to realize”), Aubory’s voice carries the hardwon knowledge of the truth of love. Bugg’s emotionally honest songs, unique blend of indie rock and folk pop and powerful crystalline voice will stop you dead in your tracks.
“nosedive” is poised to be an instant fan favorite. The track is a bitter reflection on a former partner who re-connects with a first love from their past. Her powerful voice soars over the rocking drums and guitar as she provides listeners with an anthem, looking back at what’s been lost while also making light of the situation. “Nosedive came from a time when a former partner put me in a very awkward situation. Writing this song was the only way to really put into words the way I felt in that moment,” Bugg says of the new track. Bugg also showcases her personality & acting chops in the single’s playful new music video, giving viewers a glimpse into the song’s sarcastic nature.
This exciting news follows the release of Bugg’s very first single and album title track “i think i had something once.”
Bugg recently completed a run of tour dates as direct support to Courtney Marie Andrews, and continues her live shows this week with select festival dates in the UK.
