Whisper Doll – Lucky Clover

Today, New York City’s Whisper Doll, the project of bandleader and musician Fiona Tagami, is excited to announce their new album, Lucky Clover, available October 2, 2026, via Take Care Records.

“Bluebells” arrives today in all its whimsical and melodic pop glory, reflecting the freshness of a new beginning.
Upbeat riffs collide with Fiona’s vocals, which rest like a blanket atop the summery mix. The track carries the listener through a dreamlike journey, glimmering with hope.
Speaking about the music video, Fiona shares, “The video was inspired by Alice and Wonderland. I wanted it to be very fun and energetic, just like the song. I knew I wanted magical animal characters and a tea party, and the rest of the plot slowly began to form. We shot this video on the way to our first stop on our recent tour. Owen thought Bard’s campus would be a great place to shoot, so we gathered all of the props and costumes along with our tour gear and headed upstate, really hoping it would work out. Luckily, the campus was perfect, and since it was overcast, hardly anyone was there. We arrived late and were fighting the daylight, so we basically shot for about 5 hrs straight until it got dark, right at the end. All in all, it’s a miracle everything worked out, and we were able to get it done in one day, with no crew. Unfortunately, I sent my tour suitcase back in the car to NYC with Owen, so I was left with no clothes for the tour. Despite all the chaos, we managed to get the perfect whimsical video.”
In April, “Am I a Knife” heralded the news of the band’s signing, cascading twinkling synths over a driving bassline. Fiona’s intense emotionality shines through in her fully expressive vocals, which reach new heights in the song’s thunderous chorus. “Oh, take me as I am, Oh, you know that you can,” she sings, reflecting on the severed reality of the male gaze from feminine desires.
An official music video for the track premiered alongside the single, which was co-directed by Fiona and creative Owen Lehman, who has previously worked with Geese and MX LONELY. The video features the four-piece band performing in a wood-drenched, gothic church, interspersed with spiritual visions and increasingly intense imagery as the song bursts at the seams. Mirroring the pressurized burden of sexuality placed on women, blood begins to spill from the grasp of a knife as the emotional toll worsens.
Fiona has a central analogy to describe the way that Whisper Doll’s world should feel. She asks listeners to imagine sneaking into a park after hours; the adrenaline combined with calm and quiet, the darkness both unnerving and comforting, the satisfaction of solitude intensified by the lateness of the hour and the knowledge that nobody’s coming to break it. There’s an otherworldliness to the feeling that is nevertheless rooted in space and time. More of this feeling can be expected on the band’s upcoming new album.
Known for their captivating live performances, Whisper Doll has built a following within NY’s rock scene and toured across the U.S. and Japan. Throughout this year, the band previewed new material at New Colossus Festival, RockNite NY and shows with Gift and Horse Jumper of Love. This weekend, Whisper Doll will play MiniMart in Philadelphia, PA, with support from Horse Jumper of Love, Altar Wish, and Heat Loaf. On July 1st, they’ll celebrate the release of “Bluebells” with a show at Alphaville with Nat Shaheen, Wax Girl and Many Shining Windows.
