Tamar Kaprelian – Mirror

Tamar Kaprelian

Multi-platinum singer/songwriter Tamar Kaprelian returns with new single “Mirror.”

Best known for co-writing “SNAP” (4 Billion+ streams globally!), Tamar continues the deeply personal songwriting journey she began with recent release “The Only,” this time exploring the difficult realization that no amount of support can substitute for personal accountability.

Inspired by her own experience managing a young female artist, “Mirror” examines the limits of what mentorship, guidance and opportunity can accomplish without a willingness to look inward. At its core, the song is a call for self-reflection, asking the women in her life to look inward before looking outward, and to recognize that growth and healing require ownership.

“‘Mirror’ is, in many ways, about a different form of motherhood,” says Tamar. “It’s about recognizing that no amount of mentorship, support, advocacy or love can substitute for self-accountability. The song is a plea for self-examination. Sometimes the obstacle isn’t the business, the manager or the system. Sometimes the hardest truth is recognizing that the person standing in the way is the one staring back at you in the mirror.”

Following the release of “The Only,” which explored the identity shifts that come with becoming a mother, “Mirror” expands the conversation into another form of nurturing: what it means to guide, support and advocate for others while recognizing the boundaries of what one person can do for another. Together, the songs form part of a larger body of work examining different forms of “mothering,” from raising children to nurturing artists, ideas and careers.
