COWZ – Miss Antionette

COWZ

Brighton’s boundary-pushing queer alt-pop duo COWZ return with their new single ‘Miss Antoinette’ via APOLLO Distribution, a confrontational, explosive pop hit that builds on their growing reputation for making ‘girl’s girl music with violent undertones’.

Speaking on the story of the track, COWZ’s Tasha shares: “Miss Antoinette’ is about our first hand experience in the music industry and arts world, going up against creators who already have a major leg up – whether that’s due to nepotism, having a lot of money to throw at a project, or being able bodied etc. We’ve crossed paths with these people, and more often than not they are so unbelievably oblivious to their privilege. They live in a totally different world to you and don’t have to consider or worry about most of the things the common person does. It becomes relentlessly boring, hearing the perspectives of rich, upper class artists who’ve likely never cleaned a toilet or mopped a floor in a customer service job. Most consumers cannot relate to the content, and just because someone can afford expensive ad campaigns and shoots and can make the contents ‘look’ shiny, lack of authenticity is easy to clock. The arts are full of rich people; not because their art is better, but because they’re benefitted by a system that allows them to buy exposure.”

At its crux, ‘Miss Antoinette’ takes the form of a dramatic protest of nepotism and classism. COWZ continue to encourage you to participate in their favourite hobby – eating the rich.

“With lyrics that poke fun at how incredibly not relatable these perspectives are, musically Miss Antoinette is a big anthem with a melancholic undertone. Big synths, big bass, distortion, and a stacked vocal arrangement that deliver both societal critique and a wish that life wasn’t so damn hard when you don’t have money” Saga of COWZ says.

Acting as another powerful release from the dynamic duo, who continue to use their platform and musicality to address the social issues affecting them and their peers, ‘Miss Antoinette’ demonstrates that they show no signs of slowing down.
