Francis of Delirium – Run, Run Pure Beauty

Francis of Delirium—the project of Luxembourg-based musician Jana Bahrich—releases her second album, Run, Run Pure Beauty, today via Dalliance Recordings and releases the video for focus track, “Higher.”
While looking outward at the state of the world across Run, Run Pure Beauty, Jana also retreats into introspection, notably on “Higher,” which focuses on her personal journey recovering from neck surgery in between album releases. The dreamy richness of the Laurel Canyon sound gives the track an almost transcendent, spiritual quality. Its hazy, warm acoustic textures allow vulnerability and resilience to coexist in a way that feels both intimate and uplifting.
Jana comments, “I went all out on this song. There are over 70 vocals and even that wasn’t enough so I enlisted the help of my speech therapist to add a different vocal texture. She was a crucial part of the past year after she helped me strengthen my voice.”

Run, Run Pure Beauty highlights the age of instability that we live in, portraying different perspectives, and serving as an excavation of hope beneath the weight of the contemporary world. Jana says, “Run, Run Pure Beauty can be read as either a warning or a wish. A warning for the good in the world to run away, protect itself, hide from the hopelessness and darkness that seems inevitable. Or as a wish, for us to run towards the beauty in the world, freely and wildly.”
Francis of Delirium craft euphoric rock charged with a distinctly Gen Z sensibility, taking influences from ‘90s college rock and with echoes of Sufjan Stevens. Stereogum summed up her sound when saying, “There’s a bit of Pixies and Snail Mail and The Beths in there, and maybe some Lomelda and Lucy Dacus and Built To Spill. You know, that really f*cking good sh*t.” Produced by Jana and long time collaborator Chris Hewett, and mixed by Nicolas Vernhes (Deerhunter, Dirty Projectors, Silver Jews), the album builds on the emotional openness of previous albums while pushing further into tension and restraint.
Live, Francis of Delirium are Jana (guitar and vocals), Jeff Hennico (bass), and Denis Schumacher (drums). Together, their brilliant quiet-loud dynamic and tight interplay elevate Jana’s songs.
