Swapmeet – 2 C U

Last month, Swapmeet announced their debut LP Mount Zero.

The Adelaide, Australia 4-piece composed of Venus O’Broin (guitar, vocals), Joshua Doherty (bass), Maxwell Elphick (guitar, drums, vocals), and Jack Medlyn (guitar, drums, vocals), have been riding a wave of momentum since signing to the LA label Winspear earlier this year. The band announced their signing in February, with the single “I Know!” that earned best of the week nods from Consequence, Paste and Stereogum, before making their US debut at SXSW, and announcing their debut with the single “Sand” and an Artist You Need To Know feature in Rolling Stone, who praised their “excellent debut album.”
Today, the band are back to share their latest single “2 C U,” and to mark the occasion Paste have spoken to the band for a Best of What’s Next feature.
“2 C U” is a reflection of their forthcoming album’s themes of first loves, first heartbreaks, first embarrassments, first disasters. It’s a song that harnesses the blistering mania of infatuation, as the band explains:
“2 C U captures the excitement of wanting to see someone, the mindless things you think or do in anticipation, and how the nerves that follow cannot be controlled.”
