Amelia Day – Ego Trip

Today, Nashville-based up-and-comer Amelia Day announces the June 12 release of her new EP EGO TRIP.

Co-produced with engineer/producer Taylor Carroll (Big Thief, Illuminati Hotties) at Bear Creek Studio in the Washington wilderness, Day handled much of the instrumentation herself, including guitar, piano, keys, and auxiliary percussion. Along with the announcement, she also shares the new single “GET OUT OF TOWN!,” a genre-bending, guitar-fueled kiss-off to a no-good lover.
“GET OUT OF TOWN!” follows Days’ other recent singles, “LOVE ME / LOVE ME NOT,” “False Prophet” feat. Sydnee Conley and “Margie.” The new song perfectly captures the feelings that come with a messy, small-town break up – the claustrophobia of overlapping social circles, the anxiety of chance run-ins, and the frustration with community gossip. Day explains, “‘GET OUT OF TOWN!’ is both my most literal and cheeky song yet, where I try to find humor in the comedy of errors following my breakup. I channeled the betrayal I felt after my ex’s infidelity into witty and sassy double-entendres (a la Sabrina Carpenter) and a cathartic rock singalong chorus.”
Amelia Day is a musical jack-of-all-trades. Standing at the intersection of folk, rock, and pop, she blends heartfelt storytelling, raw delivery, and unforgettable melodies into music that feels both fresh and familiar — like rediscovering an old favorite. Refusing to box herself into any one genre, Day has built a national audience on her own terms and garnered millions of streams with diverse tracks like the soulful, jazz-influenced “Skippin’ Down The Sidewalk” and the indie folksong “Eastward of Eden.”
EGO TRIP is a record that creates its own geography, from the Laurel Canyon-worthy folk-rock of “Lady Los Angeles” to the alt-rock guitars, pop hooks, and swooning keyboards on the title track. Amelia hasn’t abandoned the diversity that’s always permeated her catalog, but she’s more focused this time around. As a result, EGO TRIP doesn’t sound like anyone else; it just sounds like Amelia. The Washington Post recently said, “As a professionally trained vocalist, her songs are all driven by powerful belts and quippy, multilayered lyrics that remain recognizable whether they appear in a cowboy hat or leather jacket.”
Born and raised in the small town of Sumner, Washington, Day has been making music since she could walk and writing original songs since middle school. In college, she overcame paralyzing stage fright and began performing publicly. Starting with farmers markets and local restaurants, she developed the confidence and following that would lead to sold-out shows in Seattle, Boston and D.C., as well as festival appearances at Bumbershoot, Capitol Hill Block Party, Folklife Festival and Seattle PrideFest. She is currently on her first headlining tour across the country, with upcoming stops in Portland, Minneapolis, Denver and more.
