My Precious Bunny – Black Currents

My Precious Bunny2

My Precious Bunny releases “Black Currents” the next single off A Moment In My Eyes out May 22 on Bella Union.

My Precious Bunny is the solo project of Lilly Wolter (One half of Penelope Isles).

Stepping out on her own, Wolter crafts music that feels like a memory: sun-faded, sprawling, and deeply alive. It’s intimate and cinematic all at once: music for late-night heart-to-hearts and long drives to nowhere in particular, every note heavy with nostalgia and motion.

A Moment In My Eyes

Co-produced with childhood friend Allister Kellaway (Last Living Cannibal), A Moment In My Eyes is both a personal milestone and a shared vision brought to life. The songs shimmer with texture and feeling: warped pop sensibilities, bursts of saxophone, warm analogue synths and restless guitars collide with raw choral power, in a sound that feels spontaneous, magnetic and full of momentum. There’s a sense of community in the way the melodies fold into each other, like old friends catching up, finishing each other’s thoughts mid-sentence.

Born and raised on the Isle of Man, caught somewhere between myth and mist, Wolter’s music feels inseparable from the landscape that shaped her. At times deeply personal and confessional, at others sweeping and orchestral, her songs move with a sense of purpose, like something shaped by time and tide. With some of Brighton’s best musicians performing on the album, My Precious Bunny is gaining momentum fast.

Lily Wolter on My Precious Bunny and her debut solo album:

“Originally named ‘KookieLou’, I began this project when I was 16 at college in the Isle of Man, doing a B-tech in Art & Design. It was the beginning of me making stuff – sculptures, prints, drawings, and eventually demos. Since forming Penelope Isles (a band I started with my brother in Brighton, 2017), this side project has been on the back burner. I always had plans to do something with it someday, but never found the time because I was putting everything into Penelope Isles. It wasn’t until lockdown struck, and I became blessed with 4 months of living at my parents’ house in Penzance, Cornwall, with nothing to do except make demos and go surfing (I was one of the lucky ones). This is where I wrote most of these songs. Freshly out of a breakup, I was thrown into a heavy weight of reflection, jealousy, heartache, memories, confusion, insecurity and low self-worth, that was being tended to by making demos in my bedroom. I proudly listened to them on repeat, wondering what to do with it all. It was extremely cathartic, and I’m so grateful for that little chapter.

When my brother became busy with another project, it was the perfect time for me to take these songs and record them properly with the help of my very good friend Allister Kellaway. I met Alli when I was 15 years old, where his previous project at the time (The Mantis Opera) was a gigantic inspiration for me. I have always admired Alli’s songs and the way he makes them sound, and I couldn’t believe it when he said YES to producing my album. It made so much sense to me, and has been nothing but an honour to have him bring it all to life. Not only have I grown up with him as such an important role model to me, but his beautifully calm and patient soul paired with his extensive knowledge and obsession for things I don’t understand, led to a truly special time.

‘My Precious Bunny’ is what my mum has always called me. ‘A Moment In My Eyes’ is the last track on the album, and the best way I can describe this collection of thought and feelings.”
