Raising the curtain on what promises to be an unforgettable creative era, acclaimed Chinese-American alternative pop singer/songwriter Emei unveils a deliciously dramatic and dynamic new single “Night At The Opera” out now.
It marks the first release under her newly minted deal with Atlantic Records in partnership with multi-GRAMMY® Award-winning mega-producer Ricky Reed’s Nice Life Recording Company, and the first offering from her forthcoming Night At The Opera EP arriving June 12th.

“Night At The Opera” hints at the scope of Emei’s daring and diverse vision. She projects bold, bright, and blunt lyrics across a backdrop stitched together with organ, strings, and off-kilter beats. She bemoans, “The pain, the gag, the drama,” only to get the last laugh with a cheeky tease, “Have you never seen revenge looking cute in an A-line dress?”
About the song, Emei commented, “I saw an opera for my birthday, and I was inspired to make a production that was just as dramatic. I put pressure on myself to put who I am on display and show everyone the worst of what was going on in my life. This song is about how everything was falling apart, but I’m acknowledging it must be great to watch from the outside. It’s my invitation, ‘Welcome to a night at the opera, take a seat, watch this fuckery. If I’m going to be up here dancing and showing you everything about me, you’d better dance too and sing along.’”
