Gnaw – Inside A Machine That’s Glistening

Singapore noise pop trio Gnaw has announced their debut EP, Inside a Machine That’s Glistening, due out April 10th. A collection of four heavy-hitting tracks that pair power pop immediacy with layers of distorted guitars and moments of electronic abrasion.

Lead single “Star” is an apt introduction to Gnaw’s serrated sound, with explosive, grunge-influenced riffs providing an agile-yet-aggressive backdrop for vocalist Tara Tan’s musings on the nature of stardom and idolatry. A song that negotiates with self-reckoning amidst doubt and desire, it’s accompanied by a self-directed video.
Throughout their debut EP, Gnaw explores themes of ambition, admiration, internal doubt, and self-destruction with wailing guitars, propulsive rhythms, and dreamy vocals dripping with sincerity. Shifting between ’90s alt-rock romanticism, playful digital noise, and hypergaze-influenced joy rushes, the three-piece has crafted four tracks that glow amidst the grit, touching on a curious — but never overbearing — darkness. Inside a Machine That’s Glistening takes listeners on an exhilarating journey that’s at times manic, mechanical, and cathartic as it tackles some of life’s biggest questions.
Gnaw is Tara Tan (vocals), Daniel Lim (guitar), and Zakhran Khan (drums.)
