Towa Bird – Gentleman

Today, Hong Kong-born, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Towa Bird releases her exhilarating new single “Gentleman,” out now via Interscope Records. Accompanied by an official music video, “Gentleman” introduces a bold new element of gender-bending swagger to Towa’s explosive form of alt-rock/pop.
In a departure from Towa’s widely lauded debut album American Hero, “Gentleman” trades raw vulnerability for laid-back confidence, laissez-faire humor, and effortless charm— all hallmarks of the gentleman lifestyle. Produced by Patrick Wimberly (MGMT, Blood Orange), “Gentleman” brings that dynamic to life by way of an irresistibly brash sound built on Towa’s sinuous guitar work.
An instant shot of pure pleasure, “Gentleman” celebrates desire, seduction, and self-empowerment, upending gender expectations while delighting in the thrill of flirtation. After kicking off with an addictively catchy riff, the punk-leaning track reveals Towa’s newfound bravado right from its opening lines (“Left her / Undressed / All sweat, lick the salt off my neck”). Powered by punchy gang vocals, pounding drums, and a wildly kinetic bassline, “Gentleman” soon surges to a dizzying chorus that doubles as a declaration of intent: “Let ’em talk, talk, talk, they’re not in the joke / One touch and I already know / I’ll be your gentleman.”
Directed by Charlie Denis (Victoria Monét, Lily Allen), the video for “Gentleman,” shot in slow motion and reverse, captures Towa’s transformation into the full embodiment of the gentleman identity.
