Karen King – Christmas Time In New York City

Karen King2

Native New Yorker, singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur Karen King marks the holiday season with a new original song, “Christmas Time in New York City.” Co-written with longtime collaborator Adelaide Mancuso, the joyful anthem is a spirited love letter to the Big Apple.

“Christmas Time in New York City” celebrates New York’s most famous festive landmarks — Rockefeller Center, Macy’s, Radio City, Central Park, and more. King’s powerhouse vocals are backed by a spectacular 12-piece orchestra with arrangements by Angelo DiPippo (Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughn, Nancy Wilson) and Tedd Firth (Bernadette Peters, Liza Minelli, Michael Feinstein).

Inspired by the city’s resilience, the song’s uplifting chorus proudly declares, “Amazing New York City is where you wanna be.”

David Finck (Aretha Franklin, Sinead O’Connor, Rod Stewart), one of the country’s most sought-after bass players, contracted top tier musicians for the record. The track’s rhythm section and vocals were recorded and mixed at Tiki Sound with producers Fred Guarino and Tedd Firth. The full orchestra was recorded next door at Cove City Sound studio, renowned for its world-class acoustics and owned by Richie Cannata, Billy Joel’s legendary saxophonist.

For co-writer Mancuso, “Christmas Time in New York City” evokes childhood wonder and the timeless excitement of Christmas in the city, “People come to New York City from around the world to see the shimmering skyline reflecting holiday cheer. The city comes alive with warmth, generosity and the kind of wonder making you believe that anything is possible.”
