Anya Vincent – Money

Today, 20-year-old Scottish vocalist and pop songwriter Anya Vincent releases her second single, ‘Money’.
Taking inspiration from the socially-conscious 90’s pop of Lauryn Hill and George Michael, two enduring influences on her songwriting, ‘Money’ is a thought-provoking and beat-driven R&B track that shows talent beyond her years. Through Vincent’s powerful vocal and impassioned lyrics, the song challenges the listener, and confronts those who perpetuate the destructive cycle of greed.
Beginning life as a demo written and recorded in her bedroom in Paisley, ‘Money’ was co-produced with LA-based producer Jordan Lawlor (M83, Deftones, Beck and Oberhofer), who produced Vincent’s debut single ‘Catfight’ released in September of this year. The pair collaborated via Zoom, FaceTime and email, sharing stems, ideas, and giving body to the bones of her initial sketches. Anya explains, “‘Money’ was a track that came together quite quickly. I wanted the vibe to be clear and strong. One of my favourite parts of recording is working with audio engineer Kevin Burleigh at Gorbals Sound Studio in Glasgow – he knows I love experimenting with harmonies and he gives me the space and advice to get the sound just right.”
Featuring what are quickly becoming her trademark vocal harmonies, sharp lyricism, and 90’s pop edge, ‘Money’ certifies that Vincent is swiftly becoming one to watch.
