Jessie Wilson – Running Out Of G.A.S.

Jessie Wilson by Kenzie Maroney

Singer-songwriter Jessie Wilson’s music has a fearless edge that defies easy categorization, with an unmistakable country sound wrapped in raw emotion. Her songs blend the spirit of classic, retro country with the outlaw mentality of Americana music, and she can belt out a feisty anthem or tug on heartstrings with a ballad using equal conviction. She has paid her dues playing for the tourists on Nashville’s Lower Broadway, and her new EP, Running out of G.A.S., proves she’s ready to make her mark. The video for the title track is out now.

“This video tells the story of the GRIND,” Wilson says. “The not-so-pretty behind the scenes stuff that happens along this music journey: when people ignore you when you’re performing, when you’re singing to an empty room, when you run out of gas and have to figure it out and you put in all that work to get to the gig just to make a couple bucks.”

“While all of that stuff may happen from time to time, you still love what you do and I think this video shows that,” she continues. “I love that I got to go back home to Alabama and make this video.”

With a raw and natural talent for music, Wilson left a career as a teacher behind to embark on a journey to find her place in Nashville’s music scene. She released her debut EP, How ‘Bout We Find Out, in 2023, produced by David Dorn (Gabe Lee, Farmland Studios). Her music has been described as “a breathtaking blend of soulful storytelling and haunting melodies that cut straight to the heart” and “a refreshing take on the alt-country and folk genres, with lyrics that resonate with authenticity and vulnerability.”

“Running Out of G.A.S. is a contrast to my first project,” Wilson says. “This project has more grit and attitude to it. These new songs have a burst of energy and newfound life and voice. I’ve grown tremendously as a songwriter, performer, and person, and this EP showcases a new level of confidence and fearlessness. I’ve been through some things, and I think a lot of that growth is displayed throughout this second EP.” #jessiewilsonmusic
