runo plum – Alley Cat
Next week, runo plum will release her debut LP patching on Winspear (Wishy, Slow Pulp, Teethe).
The Minneapolis-based singer and songwriter has steadily caught the ears of a widening circle of listeners over the last several years, beginning with a series of singles and EPs she released independently during the pandemic that landed her tours supporting Angel Olsen, Searows and Hovvdy, with whom she recently collaborated.
Her debut LP is entitled patching, the album was produced with her new Winspear labelmate Lutalo, and was announced in late August with the single “Sickness” and was followed by “Halfway Up The Lawn” and “Pond”
This week she will be playing Pitchfork London and Paris as part of her ongoing UK/EU tour, and today she is sharing a final single from the LP, a track called “Alley Cat.”
runo says of the track:
“Social anxiety, a neurodivergent struggle of mine! Socializing can feel like standing on the edge of a cliff. I don’t drink anymore but alcohol used to help numb that anxiety (i.e. the lyrics “browned out”). The long outro makes me feel like it’s 4am, I’m in my room laying on my back on the floor in a starfish position, and I’m astral projecting or something.”
