PELOWSKA – Venom

Edinburgh-based duo PELOWSKA prepare to empower with the release of new single” Venom.”

This is the third release to be taken from their debut EP end / start, due for release later this year.

Drawing influence from the likes of Massive Attack and Portishead, the trip-hop duo are known for their retro-synths, brooding soundscapes and evocative lyricism. Their latest single “Venom” is no exception. Exploring the toxic impact of abuse and gaslighting that goes so deep that it ends up consuming one’s sense of identity, the song tells the powerful story of breaking away from the chains of deliberate manipulation in a close relationship, and becoming stronger as a result of the pain survived. Speaking of the single, vocalist and producer Aneshka Pelowska says, “It’s a reminder that the most important person in your life is you”.

Aneshka (vocals/synths) and Dave Tynan (bass/guitar) had admired each other’s separate musical journeys in other bands for years. When Aneshka moved from Poland, she immersed herself in open-mic nights and sang for a variety of local bands. When an unfortunate accident with a glass of wine destroyed a laptop with several months’ worth of compositions on it, she turned to fellow musician Dave to help her get back on track. Now, the duo write songs that speak about mental health, with resilience running through everything they do. Aneshka is also part of the 3.5% of female music producers in a male-dominated space, and an immigrant who started a band with no school friends, no scene connections, nothing handed over, just the music and a drive to create something real.
