Kira Metcalf – Lessons In Majestic Humiliation

Today, NYC based Kira Metcalf shares video for “On Instinct” and announces their new album Lessons in Majestic Humiliation, out on December 5, 2025.

Metcalf says, “On Instinct” is about the fetishization of toxic masculinity as a defense mechanism. It’s about the confluence of fear and desire and being socialized as a woman in a culture that wants to control and destroy you.

Lessons in Majestic Humiliation navigates the thorny contradictions of sexuality, womanhood, grief, and late-stage capitalism. Like the urge to pick at a scab, Metcalf’s music pulls you into emotional terrains that are unsettling yet impossible to look away from.

Drawing frequent comparisons to Mitski, Jeff Buckley, and Fiona Apple, Metcalf’s work resists easy categorization, though her strongest influences range from nirvana to Sarah Vaughan and Leonard Cohen.
