Salarymen – We Could Be Together

‘We Could Be Together’ is the new single from Australian indie duo Salarymen, from their debut album Take It Or Leave It out 31st Oct.
‘We Could Be Together’ is a dreamy, alternative pop anthem about failed relationships, disillusionment, and the hope for something better. Renee’s sultry, reverb-drenched vocals combine with a thumping piano groove delivered by The Lazy Eyes’ Harvey Geraghty, that you simply can’t help but move along to. The song effortlessly captures the frustration of lowering your standards just to feel wanted, with lyrics like “I’d make excuses any time you didn’t show, my expectations were pretty low”.
The title itself is purposefully ironic – hinting at the futile hope of a connection that was never truly meant to be. With their signature multi-part harmonies, atmospheric synths and vintage-inspired guitar tones, Salarymen channel indie royalty like Clairo, Alice Phoebe Lou, Men I Trust and Weyes Blood on this latest release.
